July 4th – Earth is Farthest from the Sun

We all know that the earth orbits the sun.  That orbit is not a circle though.  It’s an elliptical.  That means that there are specific days when the earth is closest to and farthest away from the sun.  This year, the earth is farthest away from the sun on July 4th.  It’s called the Aphelion Day.
