Attorney General releases 2022 SC Human Trafficking Report

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson released the 2022 SC Human Trafficking Task Force Annual Report at the State House today.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson released the 2022 SC Human Trafficking Task Force Annual Report at the State House today. AG Wilson, the Chair of the SC Task Force, was joined by local, state, and federal law enforcement as well.

According to the report, the top five counties for reported human trafficking cases were Richland, Greenville, Charleston, Horry, and Spartanburg.

The data shows there was a 458% increase in labor trafficking victims and a 44% increase in victims who identified as Latinx. In all, there was a 128% increase in victims use of the National Human Trafficking Hotline.

In a statement, Director of the Task Force, Kathryn Moorehead, says “In 2023, we will be rolling out new initiatives including increased labor trafficking awareness campaigns.”
