Chapin man arrested on various drug, gun charges
Lexington Co., SC (WOLO) — The narcotics team with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested 41 year old Tarik Shiggs in December, accused of various offenses. According to an arrest warrant Shiggs is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing crack, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person convicted of trafficking a controlled substance.
According to Lexington deputies, after getting information about drugs inside of a house in the 200 block of Eagle Pointe Drive they say they went to the Chapin home to execute a search warrant. Deputies say Shiggs ran out of a back door of the home and threw a book bag over a fence as agents were arriving. Officials say when they recovered the bag they discovered two guns and a large amount of drugs.
As agents were approaching the home, Shiggs ran out the back door and threw a backpack over the fence they say contained two pistols and a large amount of drugs.
Agents say they were able to seize about 8 pounds of meth, 15.5 pounds of pills they say tested positive as meth, over an ounce of fentanyl, marijuana, crack, crack manufacturing equipment, three guns and two drones that were taken from inside the home during the search. Shiggs remains in the Lexington County Detention Center.
