COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Since the beginning of the week, school schedules have been switched or delayed due to the inclement weather Tropical Storm Debby brought to the Palmetto State. The storm caused serious flooding and heavy rain in several parts of the state, which lead many school districts to decide what the school week would like.

For many schools August 5, through August 8, was suppose to be the first week of school in the Midlands.

School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties:

School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties will return to normal operations on Friday, August 9. Friday will be the districts first day of school which was suppose to be earlier in the week but was pushed back due to Tropical Storm Debby.

Lexington School District Three:

Lexington County School District One:

Lexington County School District One announces that school is on for Friday, August 9. The district says, if your student was scheduled to attend school today, Thursday, August 8, your child can attend school tomorrow with the group assigned to Friday or you can wait to begin school on Monday. Also, the district says as planned, students who attended school on Wednesday do not attend school on Friday. All 4K and 5K students will attend on Monday as originally planned.

Kershaw County School District:

Kershaw County School District announces that the district will be on a regular school schedule Friday, August 9. Students will have five school days to complete all e-Learning assignments to be counted present for Thursday, August 8. The district also states, some buses may run behind and traffic will be heavy around schools at the start of the school year so be cautious and patient in school zones and at bus stops.

Orangeburg County School District:

Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) plans to reopen schools and buildings on a two-hour delay, Friday, August 9, said the district.

A two-hour delay means, students who ride the bus should report to their bus stops two hours later than usual. For example, if your student’s bus arrives at 6:30 a.m, it will now arrive at 8:30 a.m. Car-riders should report to their schools two hours later than usual and all OCSD staff members should report at their normal time.
