SC Attorney General announces statewide drug arrests
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, along with SLED Chief Mark Keel, and DEA announced a statewide investigation crackdown.
Wilson was joined by local law enforcement at the State House Friday, Dec. 12, for the announcement about a statewide investigation and crackdown that led to arrests associated with drug trafficking throughout the state.
A dozen people are facing charges as part of what the SC attorney general calls, Operation Ganjapreneur.
Attorney General Alan Wilson says the focus of the investigation was distributors of certain THC products, sold openly in South Carolina stores.
Which, regardless of what their packaging says, test illegal under the law, are highly intoxicating, and packaged to appeal to children and teens, according to officials.
Wilson says these stores are not above the law.
Additionally, Wilson says all 12 defendants are from Richland and Lexington counties.
