NIH moves to reduce animal testing

(CNN)– The National Institutes of Health is taking steps to reduce animal testing in biomedical research.

On Monday, June 15, the Trump Administration established an office within the NIH to develop alternatives.

The ‘Office of Research Innovation, Validation, and Application’ aims to fund promising new methods.

That would include 3D human tissue modules, computational models and other technologies.

One method would allow testing on “organoids”, lab-grown tissue from human cells.

Another method would use Ai to simulate biological reactions to drugs or other treatments.
