Fairfield County coroner identifies Shaw Airman drowned in Lake Wateree

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Fairfield County Coroner’s Office says a Shaw Airman drowned in Lake Wateree.

According to the coroner, on June 18, Airman Carlin Hailey died from an accidental drowning.

Officials say the 23-year-old from Los Angeles was on a pontoon when he jumped into the water without being able to swim.

The coroner says Hailey’s body was found in about 25 feet of water.
