RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a pursuit with a burglary suspect ended in a collision.
Deputies responded in reference to a burglary in the 1800 block of Harlem Street around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23.
The suspect is accused of stealing multiple items from the victim’s home, including her vehicle keys, before leaving the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies circulated the area and located the stolen vehicle near Parklane Road and Two Notch Road and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle briefly slowed before accelerating away at a high rate of speed, says RCSD.
During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of the vehicle near Parklane Road and Farrow Road but continued driving.
The suspect then traveled into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle near the intersection of Farrow Road and I-77, say deputies.
