DoorDash to buy Instacart for $17 billion

(CNN)– Two former food delivery rivals are teaming up.

DoorDash has announced it will acquire Instacart in a $17 billion deal.

DoorDash says that the Instacart brand name and app won’t change, and that the combined company would offer more stores for customers to choose from, more savings opportunities, and faster delivery options.

They said they will offer grocers and retailers DoorDash’s delivery network, and Instacart’s grocery and fulfillment technology.

The transaction is still subject to approval.

It is expected to close by the first half of 2028.
