Home shooting leaves SC man dead, wife injured

JONESVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Union County authorities are investigating a home shooting that killed a 47-year-old man and injured his wife.

Chief Deputy Perry Haney says both Barry Thompson and Jackie Thompson were shot in the head at their home near Jonesville. Haley says investigators are still determining what happened but believe no one else was involved in the shooting.

Haney says one of thecouple’s children called 911 about 7 a.m. Monday to report the shooting.

Deputy Coroner John Fallaw says Thompson died shortly afterward at a hospital. Jackie Thompson is recovering at a Spartanburg hospital.

Investigators found a .25-caliber pistol at the scene.
