COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Seven of the Republicans vying for the party’s presidential nomination were in Columbia Saturday, taking part in the “Kemp Forum on Expanding Opportunity” poverty summit.
The forum was moderated by U.S. Speaker of the House Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina).
Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich and Marco Rubio participated in the forum, which featured a couple candidates grouped together in different panels.
S.C. Governor Nikki Haley and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) addressed the crowd between the different panels.
During the panel featuring Rubio, six different protesters were pulled out of the room by security. They were calling out the Florida senator for his views on immigration.
After participating in his assigned panel, former Florida Governor Bush stopped by the State House to meet with voters at a Citizen’s for Life rally.
