Midlands law enforcement begin ticketing for “Carolina Squat” law
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – On Nov. 12, it became illegal in South Carolina to drive a vehicle with the front or back four or more inches higher than the other.
The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles said law enforcement will be issuing warning tickets to drivers of “Carolina Squatters” for six months.
Then beginning on May 10, 2024, tickets will start at $100 and go up from there ultimately leading to your driver’s license being suspended if you continue to drive an unleveled vehicle, said the DMV.
