SCEMD recognized for achieving full national accreditation
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– For most South Carolinians emergencies are hopefully rare but for the South Carolina Emergency Management Division they are an everyday occurrence.
On Wednesday, Nov.29, the state’s Emergency Management Division was recognized for achieving full accreditation.
The department met 66 national standards for responding and preparing for disasters.
South Carolina is one of 36 states with a nationally accredited Emergency Management Division.
SCEMD was first accredited in 2008 and then re-accredited in 2013 and 2019.
