I-85 near Anderson named for fallen SC trooper

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — A portion of Interstate 85 in Anderson County has been named in honor of a South Carolina trooper who died in a motorcycle wreck in the line of duty.

About 100 fellow officers, family and friends came to a ceremony Wednesday to honor Jonathan Nash. The 41-year-old trooper was killed in September 2009 when he was struck by a car in Camden as he rode his motorcycle in a honor ride for another trooper who died in the line of duty.

State transportation officials have already put up green signs in both directions on I-85 near Exit 27 to honor Nash. Extra copies were pressed for Nash’s family and a nearby Highway Patrol headquarters.
