Gamecock Athletics working with t-shirt company to honor “Gamecock Jesus”
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Gamecock Athletics and Palmetto Shirt Company have joined together to honor the late Carlton Thompson also known as “Gamecock Jesus”.
Thompson is being honored with a special t-shirt.
All proceeds from the special designed t-shirt will be donated to the Special Olympics of South Carolina (SOSC).
The organization was chosen by Thompson’s family as the recipient of the donation.
Thompson was a graduate of USC’s College of Nursing and a Gamecock sports super-fan.
Before his death, he could be seen at multiple games waving his USC flag and pumping up the crowd.
“Carlton Thompson was an inspiration to the USC community, and we’re happy to do this fundraiser to support a cause he cared about and keep his memory alive,” stated Rusty Koss, owner of Palmetto Shirt Company.
T-shirts are already on sale as of Monday, Jan.29 with a fundraising goal of $15,000. To purchase a shirt, click here.
