SC man gets 8 years for stealing from graves

YORK, S.C. (AP) — A Rock Hill man and woman have been sentenced for stealing vases from cemeteries.

The Herald of Rock Hill http://bit.ly/r3gZn4 reported both pleaded guilty to charges of taking more than 60 vases from three cemeteries.

Forty-nine-year-old Paul Douglas Hargrove was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Forty-year-old Ella Clontz Clark was placed on probation for five years.

They were arrested in November after the cemeteries reported that vases had been removed from some graves. Each of the vases was valued at about $250.

Officials say most of the vases taken from one of the cemeteries came from the graves of veterans.

Hargrove and Clark were arrested after police learned they sold or tried to sell the vases at local scrap yards.
