RIO DE JANEIRO (WOLO) — Another historic day for Team USA in Rio de Janeiro.
Team USA’s medal count now stands at 93. Thirty of those medals are gold.
Rounding out the top five countries with the most medals are China, Great Britain, Russia and Japan.
Twenty-three more gold medals are up for grabs today in 11 different events.
Usain Bolt may be known for winning the 100 meter race, but Thursday he’s going for the 200 meter title Thursday.
The sprint star is making things even more interesting on the track, saying he wants to finish the race in under 19 seconds. That means Bolt will have to beat his own record he set back in 2009 of 19.19 seconds.
American Ashton Eaton continues his decathlon defense. The grueling multi-disciple event reaches an end Thursday.
Brazil is looking to bring home the gold on its home turf.
They’re going against the Italian team in the gold medal match-up in beach volleyball Thursday.
