Florence County deputies make $10M cocaine bust

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Florence County deputies say $10 million worth of cocaine found hidden in a tractor-trailer full of furniture is the largest drug bust in the agency’s history.

Authorities say a drug-sniffing dog alerted deputies to the drugs during a Thursday morning traffic stop on Interstate 95.

Investigators say there was about 233 pounds of cocaine and hidden in the furniture. The 18-wheeler was registered to a Florida moving company.

Deputies say they released the driver and a passenger because they don’t think they knew someone hid cocaine in their truck.

Investigators are still trying to determine who put the cocaine in the 18-wheeler and where the drugs were going.
