Bus driver recovering after I-10 wreck with USC students

(CNN)– A bus driver from South Carolina is being called a hero after a near fatal accident involving several USC students in Louisiana this month.

Tina Wilson is recovering from burns and broken bones from the wreck.

On April 15, investigators say Wilson was transporting 56 University of South Carolina fraternity students and others to New Orleans for a formal.

When a blown tire caused the bus to lift onto two wheels.

Wilson stood up to try and keep control but when the bus landed hard, the windshield broken and Wilson was ejected.

A student took over and stopped the bus.

Wilson says she’s looking forward to returning home to South Carolina and that she’s thankful for the care and support she’s receiving.
