IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– As a collaborative effort between the Irmo Future Growth Corporation and the Town of Irmo, the town unveiled its town clock.

The unveiling was held on Friday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m. as a dedication to Furman and Louise Younginer for their contributions to the town.

Furman Younginer served as the mayor of Irmo from 1961 – 1977, while Louise Younginer served as the pro bono town clerk.

The clock which is located near the corner of Lake Murray Boulevard and Woodrow Streets is intended to foster a sense of community unity according to, the Irmo Future Growth Corporation Chairman and Local Entrepreneur Beach Loveland.

Mayor Bill Danielson emphasized the clock’s design to complement Irmo’s small-town charm, particularly its proximity to the railroad tracks, considered the heart of the town.

Donations covered both the installation and the lease of the land for the next 99 years.

“We’re truly fortunate to have such wonderful neighbors and residents here in Irmo,” said Mayor Danielson.
