Suspect Sought in Attempted Orangeburg Co. ATM Theft



ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – Investigators with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Officer are looking for the driver of a vehicle in an attempted theft of an ATM.

Deputies responded to the Scotchman Exxon on Homestead Road near Bowman just after 3 a.m. on November 25 following a tip.

The 911 caller allegedly told authorities that a suspect drove a green truck had backed up to the front doors of the  before smashing out the door’s glass.

After several failed attempts to yank the machine from the building, deputies sat the ATM was destroyed and the building was severely damaged.

Officials say when deputies arrived on the scene, they attempted to blocking in the truck with Kentucky license plates, but the suspect fled on foot.

If anyone has any information on the driver, they are asked to call the OCSO at 803-534-3550
