TAYLORS, S.C. (WLOS) — Five children were injured Saturday when a gust of wind caused a bounce house and attached slide to go airborne in Taylors, S.C.

“Several children had fallen from the bouncy house or inflatable from approximately 30 feet in the air,” Taylors Fire Battalion Chief Ricky Reed said.

The extent of their injuries isn’t yet known.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. at Springwell Church’s Spring Carnival in Taylors, near Greenville. According to Taylors Fire and Rescue, two inflatables were lifted, and a bounce house hit power lines while children were inside.

A statement on Facebook from the church’s pastor says that an unexpected wind gust, “out of our control,” lifted an inflatable on the church’s campus for the event.

“We are saddened for those who were injured during the unfortunate accident today,” the pastor wrote. “We join their families, in prayer, for their full recovery.”

On Sunday, the pastor said that to the best of his knowledge, two children remain hospitalized for the treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.

On Saturday all five children were transported to an area hospital, officials said, and the severity of their injuries was not immediately clear. According to the pastor’s statement, it seems two still remain in the hospital.
