COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged a former DJJ associate deputy on Wednesday, say agents.

Adrian Oneal Cartledge, 45, has been charged with misconduct in office, and assault & battery 3rd degree on Wednesday, October 30.

Cartledge is accused of hitting a juvenile in the face with his right elbow while the teen was handcuffed with his hands behind his back.

The SLED investigation was requested by the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

SLED says when Cartledge reported the incident, he was dishonest in his report. But the incident was captured on facility camera footage.

The juvenile received minor injuries. Cartledge was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County.
