Newberry Co. traffic stop leads to man’s arrest for drugs

Shannon Jenkins was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension, said Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A traffic stop in the Macedonia/Dreher Island State Park/Holland’s Landing area lead to the arrest of a 48-year-old man, said deputies.
Newberry County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was patrolling the area when the deputy stopped the driver of a Nissan Armada.
The driver who was identified as Shannon Dewayne Jenkins is accused of driving erratically and without a license plate on Doc Fulmer Road off Macedonia Church Road.
During the traffic stop, the deputy determined that the driver was operating under suspension.
Additionally, the deputy observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain sight, according to the sheriff’s office.
An investigation revealed Jenkins had 6.7 grams of methamphetamine, an additional bag containing 2.9 grams of marijuana, and over $12,000 in cash, said NCSO.
Jenkins was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension.
He was taken to the Newberry County Detention Center, where his bond was set.
