Eric Norwood inducted into USC Athletics Hall of Fame

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Gamecock great Eric Norwood was one of eight inducted into the USC Athletics Hall of Fame Thursday night at Williams-Brice Stadium.
“It’s always special to me (to come back to Columbia),” said Norwood. “People treat me great, the fans, and Gamecock nation.”
Norwood played football for the Gamecocks from 2006-09. He was mamed first-team All-America in 2009 by both the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Foundation as an outside linebacker.
He was a three-time All-SEC first-team selection by the coaches, twice by the Associated Press, and named a Freshman All American by the Sporting News in 2006. He served as a team captain in both 2008 and 2009 and is the school record holder in tackles for loss in a career with 54.5, and for sacks in a career with 29.0. He earned numerous national and conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week awards, as well as tying a national record by returning two fumbles for touchdowns against Kentucky in 2007 and further played in the NFL.
