RCSD investigating after inmate assaulted at Alvin S. Glenn

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an assault that happened between inmates at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Thursday.

Around 1 p.m. on January 30, deputies responded to 201 John Mark Dial Drive in reference to an assault that happened at the jail.

When deputies arrived to the jail, staff informed them that one victim had been taken to a local hospital with a head injury after being assaulted by another inmate, said RCSD.

According to jail staff, the suspect also spat on two staff members while being detained.

RCSD is investigating the incident and say charges are forthcoming.
