LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man was convicted by a Lexington County jury in January in connection with trafficking drugs, said the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

DeAndre Malcolm Black was convicted on Wednesday, January 29, for trafficking methamphetamine, 28 grams or more, but less than 100 grams.

Black was sentenced to 25 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

The conviction was the 49-years-old’s third offense which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.

He is accused of selling over 28 grams of methamphetamine during a narcotics operation on April 17, 2023.

Law enforcement said the investigation into him included multiple purchases of narcotics.

Additionally, he has prior convictions for assault, burglary, and pointing or presenting a firearm.

Black was taken to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to serve his active prison sentence.

Under South Carolina Law, Black will not be eligible for parole and the new conviction is classified as a violent and serious offense.
