DJJ doing community service across South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Department of Juvenile Justice is launching a three-day community service effort in South Carolina. Starting Thursday, DJJ says its youth and staff are teaming up with community partners and volunteers for various projects around the state. Organizers say they expect hundreds of volunteers to help refurbish buildings, organize food pantries and spruce up gardens. This is the fifth consecutive year that DJJ has worked on the “Restoring Carolina Through Youth Service” effort. Last year, the agency says it did 82 service projects across South Carolina.
