Lexington County men arrested on multiple gun charges
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County deputies arrested three convicted felons after a community tip led them to seize multiple firearms on Feb. 21, said investigators.
Joshua Nelson, 38, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, according to arrest warrants.
Michael Lankford, 67, is charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, according to arrest warrants.
Larry Grubbs, 66, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes and operating a chop shop, according to arrest warrants.
According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, deputies received a community tip about Joshua Nelson possibly having firearms in the 4000 block of Fish Hatchery Road in Gaston.
“After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found four firearms and four dirt bikes. Three of the dirt bikes were confirmed stolen,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.
Also, Nelson led law enforcement to contact Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department to executing a search warrant for his mother’s home in the 1000 block of Valley Ridge Road in Calhoun County.
While executing that separate search warrant, Calhoun County deputies found an additional 15 firearms, according to Sheriff Koon.
Michael Lankford led agents to another home in the 200 block of Sandspur Road in Pelion where an additional 16 firearms were found, according to deputies.
“The next day deputies followed up in the 200 block of Betty Blvd. and recovered a stolen camper out of Kershaw County,” said Koon.
Grubbs is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
Nelson and Lankford were released after meeting conditions of their bond.
