“It was overwhelming,” says Midlands $500,000 lottery winner

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands lottery winner has won a big prize after buying a $10 scratch-off, said lottery officials.

Officials said she won the cash off a $10 scratch-off she picked out at Spann’s Market on Wedgefield Road in Sumter. 

The lottery winner scanned the ticket in the store, and saw the message to “Claim at Lottery”.

When she saw the message, she decided to scratch off the rest of her ticket to see why.

She says she saw three zeros, then another one and it was too much.

“It was overwhelming. I never thought something like that would happen to me,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “It was overwhelming,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I never thought something like that would happen to me.”
