Sumter Co. man arrested on Drug, Weapon charges

Sumter Co., SC (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s office has arrested a man after executing a search warrant which they say led them to discover a drugs and guns.

Deputies served the search warrant at 9 a.m. at the Dais Road home where they say 37-year-old Bateac Michael McLeod was staying June 11, 2025.  Deputies secured the property and began searching the house where they say they recovered stolen guns and crack cocaine, and other evidence authorities say “indicated ” the drugs were intended for distribution.

He is charged with Manufacturing Crack Cocaine, 5 counts of Distributing Crack Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Firearms/Possession of Firearms by a Person Convicted of Possession with Intent to Distribute, Manufacturing, Distribution or Trafficking Controlled Substance.

McLeod remains at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where his bind has been denied.
