Midlands woman accused of Ill-Treatment of Animals

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)–Investigators say on June 22nd deputies responded to Drexel Lake Rd. for a dog wandering in the area with a severe neck wound caused by a metal collar.
Deputies say neighbors recognized the dog as “Milo” and lead deputies the the dog’s owner.
According to investigators the owner, Marie Sky said she put the collar on the dog to keep him from escaping her backyard.
Deputies say Sky signed over ownership of Milo to Animal Control so the would  could be properly treated.
Milo is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators say Sky has been charged with one felony count of Ill-Treatment of Animals.
“Animal cruelty is criminal and will not be tolerated in Richland County,” said Sheriff Lott, “anyone that abuses, neglects or tortures animals, including those that allow it to happen, will be prosecuted.”
