Richland Co. Deputy bitten by dog while serving animal cruelty warrant

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)–Richland Co. deputies say a deputy was bitten by a dog during an animal cruelty investigation.
Investigators say on Thursday afternoon deputies responded to a home on Heins Rd.
While serving the warrant, deputies say a white male pitbull charged Investigator Sarah Merriman and bit her several times on the arm.
She was taken to the hospital.
Deputies say the dog’s owner, Courtney Cain has a history of animal cruelty.
She was arrested and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Officials say more charges are forthcoming.
