Chapin Mayor passes away

Chapin, S.C. (WOLO)– Friday afternoon officials with the town of Chapin announced the passing of Mayor Albert “Al” R. Koon.

In a statement on the town’s Facebook page, officials say Koon passed away Friday at Lexington Medical Center.

Officials say the mayor will lie in state at Chapin Town Hall Monday from 1pm-3pm.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church.

“Mayor Koon was not only a dedicated public servant—he was a man of deep faith, a devoted husband and father, and a true visionary who led with heart, integrity, and unwavering commitment to Chapin’s growth and well-being. His absence will be profoundly felt throughout our town.”
