ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says deputies have seized illegal drugs at a Springfield Home.

Deputies say while assisting the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) illegal drugs, and money was found.

“We were assisting SLED (South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) in a warrant service when the drugs were discovered. The initial scope of the warrant service was animal cruelty,” the sheriff says.

The sheriff says that on Wednesday, Oct. 15, OCSO investigators assisted SLED in serving warrants on Corbitt for animal fighting or baiting and ill treatment of animals.

While helping with serving the warrants,  more than a pound of meth, a half-pound of fentanyl, 24 grams of cocaine, oxycodone tablets, two handguns and more than $22,000 in cash was seized.

“The scariest part of this is the amount of fentanyl seized. NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) has said a little as 2 mg or the equivalent of a few grains of salt can be fatal,” Sheriff Ravenell says.

Christopher Corbitt of Springfield has been charged by OCSO with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine within proximity of a school, trafficking fentanyl, trafficking fentanyl within proximity of a school, trafficking cocaine, trafficking cocaine within proximity of a school, possession of a controlled substance, and seven counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
