COMET receives grant for micro-transit

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The COMET is branching out from just bus service.

Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority announced it has received a more than $400,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration.

Officials say the funding will support the development and launch of micro-transit service in Lower Richland County.

A COMET spokesperson says the new service will provide residents with flexible, on-demand transportation options in an area not fully served by fixed-route transit.
