BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WOLO)– A 20-year-old Monetta man was taken into custody after a weekend traffic stop, say police in Batesburg-Leesville.

The police department says on Saturday, January 10, around 4:15 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Willis Street for a traffic violation.

During the encounter, officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which established probable cause for a search, according to law enforcement.

As a result of the search, officers found around 14 ounces of marijuana, weapons, and ammunition.

The individual was taken into custody without incident and then taken to the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, which is a felony offense.
