Governor McMaster unveils SC executive budget

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– SC Governor Henry McMaster unveiled his executive budget Monday afternoon (Jan. 12, 2026).

Included in the governor’s budget are an additional $1.1 billion to continue ongoing transportation projects including repairs to malfunction junction and widening I-26.

The governor’s budget also includes cutting the income tax, strengthening the state’s rainy day fund, and raising first time teacher pay.

The house ways and means committee will create a budget next month taking the governor’s budget into consideration.

That will then be sent to the full house of representatives.

In April the Senate Finance Committee will create a budget which will then go to the full Senate.

Members of the two bodies then create a conference committee to create the final budget.
