RCSD: Homicide on I-20 East under investigation

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Richland County deputies say they’re investigating a homicide on I-20 East this morning.

According to investigators, it happened around I-20E between Alpine Road (Exit 76) and Clemson Road (Exit 80).

SCDOT reported a vehicle fire at Mile Marker 79 at 2:13 a.m.

The roadway has since been cleared.

Deputies say this is an isolated incident; investigators do not believe there to be a public safety threat at this time.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not released the identity of the victim as of late.

This incident remains under investigation.
