(CNN)– OpenAi says Chat GPT helped uncover a Chinese operation aimed at influencing dissidents abroad.
It says a Chinese official used the program like a diary to document the alleged campaign.
In some instances the company says operators disguised themselves as immigration officials or used forged court documents.
Open Ai says the purpose was to silence Chinese dissidents.
It says investigators were able to match the diary notes with real-world activities.
