Modern American Girl Doll line drops for 40th anniversary

(CNN)– American Girl is marking the 40th anniversary of its dolls this year.

It’s celebrating with a look back, and a collection it hopes will bring the brand forward.

Each of the original Six American Girl Dolls represents a period in U.S. history.

Now, they’re coming back in contemporary clothes for the brand’s Modern Era Collection.

American Girl dates back to 1986 when a teacher who loved history created the first product line.
