Deputies: Teens arrested for having BB gun at school bus stop
Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. Deputies say around 4:30 Monday afternoon, investigators responded to a bus stop on Hallbrook Drive in reference to two males wearing ski masks and presenting a firearm.
Deputies say they quickly located the suspects and after a short foot chase took them into custody.
Investigators say they determined the gun was a replica “Glock 17 Gen 5” air-powered good.
Deputies say both suspects, each 15 years old, were charged with Pointing and Presenting and transported to DJJ.
“There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior,” says Sheriff Lott, “showing up at a school bus stop wearing a ski mask and presenting what looks like a real firearm. They are fortunate this ended with them going to DJJ. That decision could have cost someone their life — including their own — and the outcome could have been far worse.”
Deputies say if you are a parent in need of assistance with your teen you can reach out to the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Department’s Youth Services program.
