2 men charged after gun pulled out during dinner date at Chili’s

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Two men were placed into custody, and charged on Thursday following a dinner date disturbance at a local restaurant, say police.

Sumter Police Department says after 7:30 p.m. officers responded to the Chili’s on Broad Street where a man reportedly was seen pointing a firearm.

An investigation revealed a woman, who was on a date with one of the men, felt uneasy and called friends to assist.

Once the friends arrived, there was a confrontation during which a gun was pulled and the other suspect responded by displaying his knives, says Sumter PD.

No one was hurt during the disturbance.

Tristan Gabriel Letterman, 21, of Mayesville, and Ariel Lagunes-Sarmiento, 21, of Sumter, were each charged with aggravated breach of peace.

Letterman was also charged with pointing and presenting a firearm.

Both men were booked at the county detention center, and the investigation is ongoing.
