Father’s Day spending to top $27.9 billion

(CNN)– When it comes to shopping for Father’s Day, people are splurging on dad.

According to the National Retail Federation, total spending is expected to hit a record $27.9 billion this year with people spending an average of $227 per person.

That’s about $27 dollars more than last year.

So what are people buying dad this year?

Experts found the number one item people are buying is a greeting card, followed by clothes and a special outing.

Many people surveyed also said they plan on buying dad personal care products like skincare and hygiene items.
