SC workforce increases by nearly 10K

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The number of people working in South Carolina continues to grow.

Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the SC Department of Employment and Workforce announced the number of people working in the state increased by nearly 10,000 people in May.

Officials say the number of people either working in the state or looking for work is now more than 2.6 million.

The state’s unemployment rate is 4.3%.
