Student charged after allegedly bringing stun gun on school grounds
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leon Lott says a 7th grader was petitioned for allegedly having a stun gun on school grounds, states RCSD.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, at around 12:30 p.m., the school resource officer at E.L. Wright Middle School was notified by school administration that a 7th grade student had displayed a stun gun in class.
The stun gun was secured by the SRO, says the sheriff’s dept.
“This is a reminder to parents to check your students’ backpacks,” says Sheriff Lott, “we have zero tolerance for weapons entering our schools.”
The student was petitioned for possession of a weapon on school grounds and transferred over to their parent’s custody.
