Crews respond to fire at Midlands Elementary School

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– A spokesperson for the Columbia-Richland Fire Department says crews responded to a local elementary school this morning.

Officials say firefighters responded to Sandel Elementary School on Seminole Rd. Thursday morning.

Firefighters say the significant fire started in one of the school’s bathrooms.

No injuries were reported and the building was evacuated safely.

The Richland Co. Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.

A spokesperson for Richland School Dist. One says students were dismissed for the remainder of the day.
