Inmate convicted in Lee Co. prison riot

Lee Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with the SC Department of Corrections say Larry Wright was found guilty Thursday for his role in the deadliest prison riot in South Carolina history.

Officials say White was found guilty of three counts of first degree assault by mob and one count of criminal conspiracy.

Per South Carolina law first degree assault by mob carries the same potential penalties as first degree murder.

The riot in April, 2018 at Lee County Correctional Institution resulted in the deaths of seven inmates and dozens of others injured.

According to the Dept. of Corrections, White was sentenced to life in prison without parole on all three assault by mob convictions. +5 years for criminal conspiracy.
