FTC investigates personalized pricing
(CNN)– You’ve probably heard of Ai setting individual prices for shoppers, but did you know some people say it’s also being used to determine compensation for workers?
The Federal Trade Commission is launching an investigation into both practices.
It’s demanding information from nine companies on how they use personal data to set prices and compensation.
They include Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Jet Blue, Lyft, Uber, Door Dash, Instacart, Target and Walmart.
The compensation aspect applies to how ride-sharing and food delivery companies pay drivers.
