SC man charged with felony DUI in June car crash

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A 28-year-old Orangeburg County man has been charged with felony driving under the influence involving a deadly car crash in June.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported (http://bit.ly/1u0S820 ) that Magistrate Rob Clariday set a bond at $75,000 Tuesday for Joseph Dyches of Neeses.

Highway Patrol Cpl. Charlie Davis said Dyches was driving on June 14 at 3 a.m. with 25-year-old Justin Brown as a passenger. Their car left the road and overturned, with both men were thrown from the car.

Officials said Brown died and Dyches was injured. Investigators found Dyches’ blood alcohol level was at .11, above the state limit of .08.

Dyches said he was sorry and didn’t mean to cause Brown’s death.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Dyches had an attorney.
